The Epistles and Gospels for Pulpit Use : Being the English Version of the Epistles and Gospels Read in the Masses of Sundays and Holydays Throughout the Year (Classic Reprint)
Excerpt from The Epistles and Gospels for Pulpit Use: Being the English Version of the Epistles and Gospels Read in the Masses of Sundays and Holydays Throughout the Year With this object in view, I have incorporated here three things the lack of which has, in my own experience, at least, proved a detriment to good reading: namely, division into para graphs, punctuation designed to clarify the sense, and pronunciation of proper names wherever doubtful. In addition to these fea tures, I mention another that ought to find favor with preachers. The verses are num bered, so as to permit of precise reference to chapter and verse, whenever necessary, with out further consulting of the Bible. The figures employed for this purpose are small and above the line, and will not impede the reader. As another and important aid to good reading, a large clear type has been used.
