It's Jax Cassidy's first mission for L.O.S.T.--one that will give the former cop who went rogue a chance to prove herself. Her assignment: gain the trust of assassin Marcus Cross . . . eliminate him . . . then take down Marcus's mentor, Joseph Lazarus, a man with a bold eye on the White House. But the woman who's known by her team for being a femme fatale succumbs to passion, only to discover Cross's deadly secret. He's a vampire, and Joseph Lazarus is his creator.
Left for dead by his platoon in the violent hills of Afghanistan, Special Ops sniper Marcus Cross was given a second chance at life. His newly heightened skills make him the perfect killing machine, and as Lazarus's right-hand man, he's quickly rising to the top of his dark empire, purging enemies with speed and precision. Only when dangerous beauty Jax Cassidy is sent to bring him in does he begin to question Lazarus's motives and his own actions. But when Jax's life is threatened by the one thing that can destroy them both, Marcus must make a bitter choice--her death or his.

Our customer reviews

I have to say that after reading the last few disappointing Elite Ops books from Lora Leigh I was needing a little bit of a fix. Karin Harlow has delivered and reminded me of why I loved the GhostWalker and Elite Ops/Seal books to begin with. Jax Cassidy is a ghost, one who was raped, tortured and betrayed by her fellow cops. Luckily for her L.O.S.T took an interest in her and not only made her a ghost, but raised her from her ashes of self pity and honed a fighting machine. She now works seamlessly (as long as they don't touch her) with her fellow team members and is loving her new life and purpose. Only problem is that her latest target Marcus Cross is more then he appears... and she constantly gets hot just looking at him. Cross is an assassin and part of a vigil anti group called The Solution. It's headed up by a horridly power hungry man (or is he?) called Lazarus. Jax and her team's mission is to take out the head of the snake and crush The Solution before it causes any more trouble for the government. Fate it seems is not on her side, Marcus touches a part of her that she's never felt before, any he is dangerous and more than her match. Marcus is equally intrigue and their game of cat and mouse begin. I'm not going to go into any more details, but I have to say the plot line is tight. There is so much going on, but there aren't any loose ends. I also really enjoyed the paranormal element to this book. It differentiated Harlow as an author as well as opened up numerous story lines for future books. I also liked the added evil of Lazarus being what he is, no normal mortal could cause that much terror or damage. Jax was a fantastic heroine and the fight scenes were amazing. Unlike many authors who blur over the details and suddenly 'it was all over' Harlow teased out details and I felt like I was watching the violence and blood first hand. This is definitely a must read if you are craving a little more than Maverick and Black Jack.show more
