This school was founded, in 1720, by voluntary contribution; its only per manent funds are in different three per cent. Stocks, arising principally from donations and legacies, with some savings of income, and the improved rent of a house in Wormwood-street, held, on a building lease, from the Corporation Of London, for a term Of 49 years from Midsummer, 1783, at a rent Of 71. 13. 6d., and which is under-let for the whole term, at 211. Per annum. It was built for a schoolhouse, but found inconvenient. The present schoolhouse is freehold, and is the property of the Society subsequently purchased.
