Emmanuel Lubezki Morgenstern, ASC, AMC (born 1964), better known as Emmanuel Lubezki, is a Mexican cinematographer, known for his groundbreaking techniques and characteristic style. His nickname is "Chivo." Lubezki was born in Mexico City, Mexico to a Jewish family. His father is actor Muni Lubezki. He began his career in Mexican film and television productions in the late 1980s, such as the horror-oriented cult series La Hora Marcada (1986). His first American production was the 1993 independent film Twenty Bucks, which followed the journey of a single twenty-dollar bill. He has worked with fellow Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuar n in five motion pictures: S lo con tu Pareja (1991), A Little Princess (1995), Great Expectations (1998), Y tu mam tambi n (2001), and Children of Men (2006). Lubezki and Cuar n have been friends since they were teenagers and attended the same film school at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.show more
