The inability to obtain the cotton fabric is attributed in a measure to failure to readjust all of the spindles which were altered for war purposes and lack of efficient workers. Then, too, there has been a marked increase in the demand for Egyptian cotton which is used in tire fabrics, while there has been a five-year decrease in the crop totaling approximately about 1,750,000 bales of 500 lbs. each. These conditions resulted in marked advances and wide fluctuations in the market. It is impossible to estimate the average prices for the growing Egyptian crop, according to authorities on the _ subject.
