The Edinburgh Reading Tests provide a comprehensive series of diagnostic group reading tests, with a norm-reference which complements National Curriculum assessment in England and Wales. The test assess a wide sample of the skills which make for reading competence. They reveal not only what each child can do, but also indicate particular strengths and weaknesses, as well as giving an overall measure of reading attainment. Each test is made up of four or more separately timed sub-tests, each of which assess a different skill. Profile forms on the back of each test enable the teacher to plot the scores. For each stage norms are given as reading ages and quotients. This is a redesigned edition of the Stage 1 manual for the Edinburgh Reading Tests. The literature for Stage 1 consists of two parrallel test forms, the manual and a specimen set. The test is taken in two 25 minute sessions and this edition includes up-to-date normative data.
