Earl Calvin Smith was a Major League Baseball outfielder who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1955, who signed him before the 1949 season. He was born on March 14, 1928 in Sunnyside, Washington and attended Fresno State University. He threw and batted right-handed, weighed 185 pounds and was 6'0" in height. On April 14, 1955, at the 27 years old, Smith made his big league debut. He played in 5 games, and collected only one hit in sixteen at bats, for a batting average of .062. One good thing to note about his statistics is he only struck out twice in those sixteen at-bats, and he walked four times.show more
