Dirty Weekends : Or the Part-time Gardener
This gardening guide is aimed at people who want to make the most of their gardens and allotments, but who may not have a great deal of time to spend on it. Its emphasis is on pleasure - how to achieve an abundance of colour and fragrance, cover bare walls, keep lawns and borders under control and how to design a garden so that its upkeep will be in tune with the amount of time and effort available. The author is a self-taught, part-time gardener who trained as a painter and has illustrated the work with her own paintings of flowers and gardens.
