Description

Deutsche Literatur im Kontext 1750-2000 is organized by historic periods and includes carefully chosen readings, with notes and vocabulary, beginning with Goethe and ending with modern authors such as Gunther Grass. Also included are numerous exercises and thought provoking questions for each chapter and support materials which emphasize the cultural and historical background of each historic period. Review quote

I find this an ideal introductory textbook for students of Germanliterature. The material included provides an excellent overview of Germanliterature since 1750 by embedding it in a cultural-historical context andclearly explaining the literary, cultural, and historical concepts involved. The copious exercises provide opportunities for students to organize theirknowledge, engage in textual analysis, and expand their understanding of theinterrelationships of literature and culture.- Margaret K.
