Excerpt: ...we have made extraordinary progress in bacteriology, in pathology, and in therapeutical and physiological materia medica, so that we may expect dentistry, instead of being purely surgical and mechanical, to become in the near future remedial as well. Dentistry is keeping pace with general surgery and medicine, and we should not falter in our upward course. A 'l'1ME or MEETING. As my first recommendation to the Association, I would suggest that the time of meeting be left to a. committee composed of the ingoing President, the Secretary, and the Executive Committee. By this plan a conflict of State meetings could be avoided. ORPHANAGES AND SUFFERING POOR. Throughout the country free clinics are being held in orphanages, hospitals, and free infirmaries. I hope that this matter may be seriously considered by the members of our profession in this State, and that we as a whole may devote our time and labor to the amelioration of the condition of the suffering and needy poor. We have long hoped to persuade the Legislature to remove our privilege license and to exempt us from jury duty. I believe our argumentsin this line would be more effective if first we could show some actual results in the way of charitable work accomplished. THE MILLER MEMORIAL FUND.
