Daniel Atwood McGrew (born on April 7, 1937 in Martins Ferry, Ohio) is a retired professional football center. During his college years, McGrew was a stalwart of a center at Purdue University. He was originally drafted into the NFL by the Detroit Lions in 1959, but is best known for playing his entire one year career with the Buffalo Bills during their inaugural season in 1960. He has been known by several nicknames, most notably "Dangerous Dan" and "Coach McGrew." Although he never started, McGrew played in all 14 regular season games for the Buffalo Bills during the 1960 season. He has also been on pro rosters for his draft team the Detroit Lions, as well as the Denver Broncos. In addition, he played on the semi-pro level with the Wheeling Ironmen.show more
