The D sseldorf-Elberfeld railway was built from 1838 to 1841 by the D sseldorf-Elberfeld Railway Company, which had been established for this purpose. It was taken over by the Bergisch-M rkische Railway Company in 1857 and a continuous second track was built by 1865.show more
