About Briah L Ryan

Briah's tumultuous childhood environment taught her to become adept at reading people, a necessary skill of survival that she now uses in helping others overcome their own difficult situations. Inspired by a lifelong fascination with how people learn and how diverse experiences shape individual growth, Briah earned her Masters Degree in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University Maryland in 2012, and has continued the pursuit of insight and knowledge into how humans develop, what it is that stands in the way of their dreams, and what it is that fuels the overall resiliency of the human spirit. She believes strongly in the healing power of creativity and the expression of the divine in every day life. Briah enjoys working with a variety of media including acrylics, glass, photography and pottery, as she both celebrates the beauty and explores the darkness in and around herself. She also values the power of words. As a writer and recovering alcoholic, Briah shares, through authentic introspection and rare candidness, her experiences with alcoholism, mental and physical illness, and trauma while touching on the importance of growth, honesty, openness, and spirituality as important paths to a life of joy and contentment. Her literary influences include Anne Lamott, Brennan Manning, Pema Chodron, and Glennon Doyle more
