Description

While living and immersing himself amongst the diverse cultures of Iceland, Morocco, the Philippines, Germany, and France, E. Hector Garcia observed one undeniable constant: human misery, stemming from the striking dichotomy between rich and poor. Unable to ignore the impact of this suffering, Garcia took to the page, emerging at last with this eloquent and forcible collection of poems and short stories. "Crie de Coeur" is truly a cry from the heart- as he writes in his opening poem, "still within my troubled soul there pounds, / The unanswered question, "Why must it be?" Revealing a deep capacity for compassion, he calls attention to the suffering he has witnessed in the course of his experiences overseas, igniting in each reader the awareness that "in their hunger / They cry to you. Can you not hear them?"Garcia writes with the brutal honesty of a man who can acknowledge and accept his own failures, self-doubts, and limitations, while continuing to confront the darkness within himself and in the world around him. Despite this transparency, Crie de Coeur is ultimately hopeful, as Garcia explores his faith in a brighter world beyond the one he knows.show more
