Craig McCracken (March 31, 1971) is an American animator and creator of The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. Craig McCracken was born on March 31, 1971 in Charleroi, Pennsylvania. After his father died when he was seven years old, he and his family moved to Whittier, California. Craig became interested in drawing at an early age. Upon graduation of high school, he attended the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), where he honed his animation skills. There he met classmate Genndy Tartakovsky, with whom he would occasionally collaborate throughout his career. During his freshman year, he created a series of short cartoons featuring a character named No Neck Joe, which were picked up by Spike and Mike's Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation.
