Can even the toughest cowgirl survive? You'll like this dark mystery thriller, because we all love hard scrabble detectives trying their best to do what's right. Annie's tall, blonde, snarky, and wanted. Dead or alive. And she has more problems. First it's the shooters on horseback. Then the bartender. Then a lawdog goes missing. And his brother. There's a hanging. A new man. And a lot of snarky dialogue. The outlaws have their reasons. She just has to figure out what they are. Will she? *** "I've read nearly all of Barbara's books and enjoyed their novel and refreshing approach. She mixes genres with abandon, delightfully twisting things together and apart while making me think (that really should be capitalized) every now and then. She is one of the half-dozen or so relatively new authors I am following closely, getting each new release and enjoying them thoroughly. In that group Barbara stands out for innovation, being down to earth and for provoking cogitation in an enjoyable manner. Thanks Barbara!"-Dan.

About Barbara Neville

Barbara Neville is an Arizona author, artist and rancher. Her first book is On the Rocks, the first book of the Spirit Animal series. She has 2 excellent horses, 4 aristocratic cats, and scruffy blue heeler. Her two hard working Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs are in charge of the cows, goats, chickens and guineas. The ranch house is super insulated and passive solar. It was designed by Barb and her husband. It has no active heating or cooling. It stays comfy year-round. The couple and their two kids built the house with their own hands, no subcontractors. From living camped out in a teepee, and Whelan style lean-tos, to heated A-frame tents at 26 below zero (it takes a cord of firewood a week) to Alaskan homestead cabins with no indoor plumbing and off grid solar electricity to a ranch at the end of the road, Barb has lived most of the things she writes about in her books. She has been a rancher, cowhand, horse trainer, prospector, construction laborer, trapper, tree planter in the western U.S. She was also a boat builder and deckhand on their Alaskan fishing boats. Barb has lived at various remote locations around the West. She has worked a bunch of cattle roundups in Idaho and Arizona. The largest, 2000 head. A one day round trip to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back afoot, and many mountain ski touring, snowshoe and hiking backpack weeks pepper her history. Surfing and snorkeling were her hobbies in Hawaii. A wilderness adventurer in many climes, she raises goats, makes her own cheese & rides the world's greatest horses. One of whom, Squishy, made the cover of "On the Rocks." Her daughter, Fox, took the cover photo for "On the Rocks," the first book in the Spirit Animal series. Fox lopes own her horse, Goofy, across the cover of 'Cowgirls Just Wanna Have Fun'.
