Excerpt: ...I noticed there was a storm approaching from the north-west of us; it was hard to tell just where it-would strike, the way it was acting 1 hurried home and got my boat taken eare of, and had time to look to see whetherit Was all right, and started from the house; got to the house just as the storm struck; had time to pull the door to and get inside; wasn't out in any of the storm; simply realized the force of the storm by the 1novements of the. house; it lasted only about a minute and a half or two minutes. I heard the bells ringing and people running, and I went out and made inquiry and found that the depot had been blown down with a number of people in it. After the storm I observed that there were a number of trees blown down, towards the depot; limbs off from large trees near our house; a number of trees blown down in front of our house or a little to the east or north, on the opposite side of the road: that was a grove of locusts; think there were three or four down; broken off, I think. all of them; didn't examine them elosely, but think they were sound trees. Afterwards saw them sawed into wood; didn't notice any unsoundness at that time; those trees were about ten or twelve inches in diameter; Went back to Wolfe Island soon after that; was on a point right opposite a.nd across from Marysville; and went on the seventh concession; Cape Vincent is eight miles from Marysville; I was right in l'Iarysville. Q. Describe What you observed about buildin wllere you were Z A. There were a number in one place in the road. I think you could count seven buildings without roofs. Didn't examine any of them.
