Concerning diarrhoea, this same authority says: "Bending the patient backward, with the knees pressing on the back just below the last rib, will instantly cure any case of looseness of the bowels, from common diarrhoea to flux, and a continuation of the treatment will cure any case of chronic diarrheoa." Now, then, if we are to analyze the foregoing quotations, we will find that the profession in question is making assertions which will not always work out in practice. Take for example their claim relative to diarrhoea: When a diarrhoea is caused by a cancerous condition of the rectum, it cannot be cured by the prescribed method. And in many other cases of only common diarrhoea we have seen it tried time and again without any effect whatsoever. Osteopathic assertions practiced often will not verify, simply because Osteopathy is faulty in theory. Many of its teachings are good: some of them are neither safe nor sane. To be sane in practice, we must always remain on the side of safe, scientific teaching.
