The present section is much wider in scope, as it includes persons reported as well as convicted, and persons convicted or reported guilty of offences at other than parliamentary elections, and also includes illegal practices. The barrister, it will be seen, has still power to include persons in this list, sub-s. (6). (2.) For the purpose of making out such list he shall examine the report of any Election Court or Election Commissioners who have respectively tried an election petition or inquired into an election where the election (whether a parliamentary election or an election to any public office) was held m any of the following places; that is to say, S-39. (a.) if he is the registration officer of a county, in that county, or in any borough in that county; and (b.) if he is the registration officer of a borough, in the county in which such borough is situate, or in any borough in that county. Although the registration officer is only directed to examine the specified reports he ought to include in the list any persons whom he knows to lie under a general disqualification. (3.) The registration officer shall send the list to the overseers of every parish within his county or borough, together with his precept, and the overseers shall publish the list together with the list of voters, and shall also in the case of every person in the corrupt and illegal practices list, omit his name from the list of persons entitled to vote, or, as circumstances require, add, "objected" before his name in the list of claimants or copy of the register published by them, in like manner as is required by...show more
