The empties from the knuckle house are run back on a 1.85% grade to the pit, where they are picked up in trains by the mine locomotives and taken into the mine. Convenient of access in this upper tramwav vard are located the blacksmith house, 24 x 3(5, and the engine house, 12 x 24, for the motor car. Over a nearby gulch runs the "gob" track, ami into the blacksmith shop and engine house a side track. For all these tracks and for the main entries inside the mine 40-lb. Tee rail is used with 20-rail in the rooms. The mine is equipped with electricity and all the hauling, cutting and lighting is acomplished in iho same way. The power house, 45x74, the steam railroad vard and Power House and Tipple House. alongside is a fire-proof structure, located just below the tipple house. At present, slack coal is supplied from gondola cars on track directly in front of boiler room. When conditions warrant, coal will be supplied to boilers by means oi a special tramway from tipple to boiler room operated by gravity, with return movement accomplished by means of a small motor, the car itself having an automatic dump. The boilers are return tubular 72" x 18'. 'I' wo units have been installed with provision for an additional unit later. The engine and generators constitute one of the two 150 K-W units for which space is provided in the engine room. For the underground workings the so-called "double entry" system has been adopted, entries being 40 feet center to center.
