Located on the north of Lough Corrib, the village is a popular site among trout and salmon anglers. Situated at the center of the Joyce Country Mountain and Lake Districts, Cornamona is renowned as one of the most scenic areas of Ireland. The eastern edge of the area comes down to the shores of the Corrib while the western edge borders the scenic upland area of An M m. The well known Teachta D la member amon Cu v lives in Cornamona and is currently Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.
