Wtion in flower they can be separated by the number of stamens, T. calycinum having 30, T. tereti/olium 20. In fruit the separation is more difficult. The only tangible distinction that I could make out is in the duration of the sepals, which fall with the corolla in 2'. tereti/olium, but are somewhat persistent after the corolla falls in T. calycinum. The sepals are also produced below the point of insertion in T. calycinum and uot produced in T. tereti/olium. Coherently stated, the matter stands thus: 1. Talinum calycinum has 30 or more stamens, has sepals persistent after the corolla falls, and has thorn producod below the point of insertion. 2. Talinum terclfolium has 20 stamens; its sepals fall with the oorolla and are uot produced below the point of more
