Every gross misdemeanor for which no punishment is pre scribed in any statute in force at the time of conviction and sentence, shall be punished by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than one year, or by a fine oi not more than one thousand dollars, or by both. Minn. C. O5 8703_ Failure of Duty by Public Officer. l6. Whenever any duty is enjoined by law upon any public oificer or other person holding any public trust or employment, their wilfull neglect to perform such duty, except where otherwise specially provided for, shall be a misdemeanor. Minn. C. '05 4/'96. 8704. Prohibited Acts Misdemeanors. l7. VVhenever the performance of any act is prohibited by any statute, and no penalty for the violation of such statute is imposed, the committing of such act shall be a misdemeanor. 37()5_ Acts Punishable Under Foreign Law. l8. An act or omission puiiisliablc as a crime in this state is not less so because it is also punishable under the laws of another state, government or country, unless the contrary is expressly declared in the law relating thereto.
