Excerpt: ...found that the person alleged to have furnished the supplies or stores, or from whom they were alleged to have been taken, was loyal to the Government of the United States throughout said war. The case was brought to a hearing on its merits on the 14th day of December, 1908. G. W. Hott, esq., appeared for claimant, and the Attorney-General, by George E. Boren, esq., his assistant, and under his direction, appeared for the defense and protection of the interests of the United States. The claimant in his petition makes the following allegations: That he is a citizen of the United States, residing in Cass County, State of Missouri, where his decedent resided at the time of his death. That he was appointed and duly qualified as administrator of the estate of Henry Stock, deceased, in the the probate court of Cass County, Mo., on the 16th day of April, 1907. That during the late civil war his decedent was the owner of certain buildings situate at West Point, Bates County, Mo., which were taken by the military forces of the United States, by proper authority, and removed, and the material appropriated to the use of the army in building quarters, as follows: One-story frame building, 32 by 17 feet $8f0 One-story frame building, 26 by 16 feet 40 i One-story log house, 16 by 18 feet 10 ) One-story log house, 14 by 16, with frame L 8 by 16 feet 150 One-story frame house, 8 by 90 feet 160 Total 1,600 (Taken by a portion of the Ninth Kansas Cavalry.) The court, upon the evidence, and after considering the briefs arid arguments of counsel on both sides, make the following FINDINGS OP FACT.
