Description

This historic book may have numerous typos and missing text. Purchasers can download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1910 edition. Excerpt: ... Indorsement. Board or Engineers For Rivers And Harbors, Washington, D. C, July IS, 1909. Respectfully returned to the Chief of Engineers, U. S. Army. From an examination of the within and an earlier report on this waterway, it appears that it is not navigable at low water in its present condition, that there is no commerce available for shipment except such logs and timber as are cut from its immediate vicinity, that the adjacent country is sparsely settled, and that there is nothing to indicate a commercial or industrial growth to create a commerce. In view of these facts, the Board concurs in the opinion of the district officer, who is also division engineer, that Bayou Cocodrie is not worthy of improvement by the General Government at this time. Interested parties were notified of the district officer's adverse report and informed that they might submit their views to the Board in regard to the necessity for the improvement, but no communications have been received. For the Board: D. W. LiOCKWOOD, Colonel, Corps of Engineers, Senior Member of the Board. o 2d Session. f ( No. 346. TRADEWATER RIVER, KENTUCKY.
