July 17, 1886.--Committed to the Committee of the Whole House and ordered to be priuted. Mr. Lehlbach, from the Committee on Fateuts, submitted the following REPORT: ' To accompany bill S. 380.' The Committee on Patents, to whom icas referred the bill (S. 380) for the relief of Mrs. Henrietta H. Cole, have had the same under consideration and beg leave to report: That a bill (H. R. 6081) was pending before the Forty-seventh Congress, at t.he first session thereof, and before the Forty-eighth Congress (H. R. 4206), at the second session thereof, and after consideration the Committee on Patents made favorable reports to the House, and the committee adopt said reports. The reports are as follows: Mrs. Cole is the inventor of an improvement in flutiug machines, which was patented in 1866, and upon which a patent was granted for an improvement April 25, 1871. The committee are of opinion that the invention is valuable and useful. Owing to the financial condition of Mrs. Cole she has not realized much profit from her machine. She made a contract with C. H. Stevens, secretary of Blake & Johnsou, to manufacture two huudred and fifty of said machines, at $13 per...show more
