Excerpt: ... that until the 5th of July 1829, unless other provisions shall in the meantime he made hy Parliament, there shall he set apart and issued at the Exchequer, out of the Consolidated Fund, to he placed to the account of the Commissioners for the Reduction of the National Deht, to he hy them applied towards the reduction of the National Deht, such sum of money as (together with the interest on all capital stock whatever which on the 5th of July 1828 was standing in the names of the said Commissioners, either on account of the Sinking Fund, or on account of stock transferred to them for the purchase of Life Annuities) shall not exceed the sum of Three Millions; and such sum is directed hy the said Act to he issued, hy four equal quarterly payments in each year: And after noticing that it has heen resolved hy the Commons House of Parliament, that in lieu of the sum of Three Millions so directed hy the said recited Act to he issued towards the reduction of the National Deht, there shall he issued, from and after the 5th of July 1889, at the Exchequer, out of the said Consolidated Fund, to the said Commissioners, to he hy them applied towards the reduction of the National Deht, such annual sum as shall appear to he the actual Surplus Revenue of the United Kingdom heyond the actual annual expenditure thereof: --It is Enacted, I. That for the ascertaining the actual annual amount of such Surplus Revenue, the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury shall, within thirty days next after the passing of this Act, with respect to the quarter of the year ending on the 5th of April, and within thirty days next after the 5th of July and the 10th of Octoher, in this present year 1829, and within thirty days after the 5th of January, the 5th of April, the 5lh of July, .show more
