Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The common mora, Mora moro, is a small deep-sea fish, the only species in the genus Mora. It is found worldwide in temperate seas, at depths of between 300 and 2,500 m. Its length is up to about 80 cm. Other names in English include goodly-eyed cod, googly-eyed cod, and ribaldo. The deep sea, or deep layer[1], is the lowest layer in the ocean, existing below the thermocline, at a depth of 1000 fathoms (1800 m) or more. Little or no light penetrates this area of the ocean, and most of its organisms rely on falling organic matter produced in the photic zone for subsistence. For this reason scientists assumed life would be sparse in the deep ocean, but virtually every probe has revealed that, on the contrary, life is abundant in the deep ocean.
