Colette Justine also known as Coletteborn in Tunis of French Nationality, is a multimedia artist living and working in New York City. Colette grew up in Nice, France before becoming a naturalized American. Colette is considered a pioneer of performance art and the art of staged photography. Her first performance/photo work took place in 1970 when she had herself photographed as "Liberty Leading the People" after Delacroix. She presented this work to the public in 1972 in the windows of the Courtyard Galleries in the West Village. Fred McDarrah documented it and published in the Village Voice.show more
