This historic book may have numerous typos and missing text. Purchasers can download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1912 edition. Excerpt: ...over six hundred twenty-six million gallons of water were obtained in this manner, and with the returning rains of fall proved sufficient for the immediate needs of the city. The necessary steps having been taken by the City Council to procure permanently the waters of Asnebumskit brook on February 15, 1912, and with the continuance of the reservoir work now under way, should safeguard the city against a repetition of this season's experience for some years to come. It will be necessary, however, to conserve the use of the high service water, and reduce the amount being drawn for low service purposes through the Parsons reservoir to the minimum. In order that this may be done, and the requisite low service pressure throughout the city be maintained, a larger conduit should be laid from the Tatnuck brook reservoir to the city. The major part of the existing line of pipe is but 24 inches in diameter, and is altogether unsuited for the needs of the city at the present time. The high service conduit is equally in need of attention, and should receive consideration before its inadequacy results in disaster. My past recommendations relative to these matters are respectfully renewed. Uespecrfnlly submitted. I'KKIVK A.
