The movement is in good hands, and will be wisely guided. # ii Optimism. THIS is the only consistency for a Christian man. If one believes that a Being supremely wise and good and powerful has control of all things, then it must follow as the night the day, that all things are managed in the best way possible. There is no escaping from this blessed compulsion. If a Christian says he is a pessimist, it is equivalent to saying that he does not believe. VVe should like to press home the absoluteness of this upon every Christian_man. But there is a further step. All this is specially true in the region where we are most slow to acknowledge it, in the moral and spiritual realm.
