N0. 1 common, VVhlle it is contended by many authorities in the hardwood market that prloes are already too high for comfort and that this will surely promote the use of substitutes. if maintained on these high lsvells. there are others who say that some of the: 5 must inevitably go higher. Besides. the oa men do not consider that quartered white oak in_ firsts and seconds at $250 is an exo;-higant price for such a useful and beautiful wood. r Therehhas been some export trade, but lately umors have reached this side that foreign bllverg are 1: )l_ 111181') for lumber at the prices that they are eing quoted. but in fact the exporters are able to secure very little lumber for export at any price.
