For thirteen years the older employees of the extensive saw manufacturing firm of E. C. Atkins & Co.. Inc., Indianapolis. have looked forward to their annual reunion and banquet which is easily the social event of the year in their lives. The Atkins Pioneer Club, organized in 1906, is composed of 152 employees who have been connected with the concern for twenty years and more. Vvhen it was formed there were 62 members eligible and since that date 37 have passed away. Since the last annual meeting the membership was increased by 25 of the employees who had been with the concern the required period. The oldest employee in active service is Charles F. Aumann. who started with E. C. Atkins & Co. in 1870 and is still on active duty. Harvey Saws Avery, of Traverse City, Mich., who is well known among lumber manufacturers all over the country. was another of the honored members at the banquet, having made the journey from Traverse City especially for that event. Mr. Avery celeblrated his eightieth birthday at Traverse City on January 24 and was tendered a banquet by his friends on that occasion. The banquet and smoker of the Atkins Pioneer Club was held, as usual, at the Spencer House. Indianapolis, and was one of the most enjoyable meetings the club has ever held.
