Not doing so well in school, Chewy Noh takes the advice of his grandfather and sees a Korean fortune-teller called a mu-dang. Instead of getting help, Chewy gives it, saving the old woman from a fallen tree. For this act, she gives him the gift of any one power he desires. His new power at hand, Chewy's life changes, with him rising to the top of his school rankings, and soon he finds his way to study in America. However, within weeks, he been made the target of a school bully with a deep secret who won't stop at anything to put Chewy in his place. Chewy scrambles to get the upper hand, only to find his mother horribly ill, and he begins to learn that his power is linked to a much darker force than he had ever thought. As everyone in his school turns on him, he wonders if being a superhero is that worthwhile after all. In the end, it may not.

About Tim Learn

I have always loved books. While younger, I read voraciously the classics and experimental forms of narrative. But, more recently, I've backtracked and started enjoying authors like Gaimen, Sachar, and DiCamillo. My writing tends to tackle issues of spirituality, paradigms, and the way we think. My love for reading and writing has only expanded by becoming an English teacher in Korea. Please leave any comments at my blog:
