Chebrolu, or Chebrole is a town and a Mandal in Guntur district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India, located at 16 11 N 80 31 E.It is is a major panchayat comprising three villages, Chebrolu, Pathareddypalem and Kothareddypalem and is the mandal headquarters. It was a regional fort for the Pallava, Chalukyas and Kakatiya Empires. Its ancient name was Sambhole (from which 'Chebrolu' is derived). It became famous during the rule of the Kakatiyas, as a great general Jayapa ruled Chebrolu. Jayapa's sisters were married to Ganapatideva, the greatest Kakatiya emperor. Jayapa also wrote a famous treatise on Indian dance, Nrutyaratnavali.
