Not illustrated. 1907 edition. Excerpt: ...be the duty of the City Clerk to see that no more notes or bonds are issued than what were authorized by vote or order of the City Council. Sec. 2.--When a loan is authorized for less than one year to be paid out of the money collected from the tax assessed during that year or from the collections of the tax of previous years the same shall be considered a part of the temporary loan, and the notes issued therefor shall be signed only by the City Treasurer and attested by the City Clerk, who shall as in the former case see that no more is borrowed than what is authorized by the vote or order of the Council. Sec. 3.--Orders for the borrowing of money for the use of the city, whether for the temporary or permanent loan, shall have two separate readings, with an interval of not less than three days between said readings, in the same manner as now provided in the matter of appropriations, before being finally passed. CHAPTER XVIII. SALARIES OF CITY OFFICIALS. Sec. 1.--The annual salaries or remuneration to be paid to the various city officials, shall be as follows: Mayor, four hundred dollars. City Clerk, two hundred and fifty dollars. Collector, eight hundred dollars. Treasurer, two hundred dollars. Auditor, two hundred and fifty dollars. Assessors, two dollars and fifty cents per day, "actual service." Police, two dollars and twenty-five cents ($2.25) per day. Overseers of the poor: --chairman, seventy dollars; other members forty dollars each; with power to elect clerk at fifty dollars. Road Commissioner, five hundred dollars.
