Charles Anthony Ryan Silvera (born October 13, 1924 in San Francisco, California) is a retired American professional baseball player, a catcher who played in Major League Baseball from 1948 through 1957 for the New York Yankees (1948-56) and Chicago Cubs (1957). Listed at 5 ft 10 in (1.78 m), 175 lb (79 kg), he batted and threw right-handed. Silvera spent most of his nine seasons with the Yankees as a backup for Yogi Berra and Elston Howard. His most productive season came in 1949, when he posted career-numbers in games (58) and RBI (13), while hitting .315 (41-for-130).
