Description

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Charles Wood (April 23, 1916 - May 29, 1978) was an American singer and actor. After moving to New York City from his native Seattle, he appeared in five Broadway musicals in the 1940s and 1950s. Wood was born in Seattle, Washington, in 1916 to Cyril Percival Wood and his wife, Edith (nee Chamberlain), who were wed in Seattle on November 7, 1909. Shortly after Wood's birth, the couple moved to Redwood City, California, where Wood grew up with his older brother, Cyril ("Cy"), his older sister, Mary, and his younger brother, Russell. He attended Lincoln Grammar School in Redwood City and went on to graduate from Redwood City's Sequoia Union High School in 1936. Upon moving to New York to pursue a career as a professional performer, Wood met and ultimately married Adelaide Marchena (October 15, 1915 - January 11, 1982), a native of Manhattan, the daughter of Carlin and Adelaida Marchena.show more
