Excerpt from Character Sketches of the Rt. Rev. C. P. Maes, D. D: Late Bishop of Covington, Ky
When Camillus Paul Maes, third Bishop of Covington, passed away during the night of May 11, 1915, the Church of Kentucky lost one of its noblest sons and one of its most stalwart leaders. The Catholic Uni versity of America, in whose foundation few played a more important part than he, lost a friend whose place cannot easily be filled. His brethren of the Hierarchy of the United States lost a firm and warm sup porter of all their efforts for the Church here and a splendid exemplar of the true Shepherd of Christ in the vineyard of America.
