About Eleanor Farjeon

Eleanor Farjeon came from a family of famous people - her father was a novelist, her grandfather an actor and her three brothers became well known as composers, novelists and producers. Her first book was published in 1916, a collection of poems called Nursery Rhymes of London Town. Her next book Martin Pippin in the Apple Orchard made her famous as a writer for children. After her death in 1965 the Eleanor Farjeon award was set up in her memory, to give recognition to outstanding figures in the world of children's books. Anne Mortimer is recognised as one of the finest contemporary painters of cats. She is a member of the Society of Botanical Artists and of the Royal Miniature Society, from whom she received an honourable mention for the most outstanding miniature of the year. She lives in Dartmouth, Devon.show more

Our customer reviews

This book is smaller than the cover preview on this page! Which is a pity because you can\'t see the artwork clearly, and it\'d also be too small for children. I\'m not sure if there once was a proper/bigger edition.show more
