Excerpt: ... these studies, and so essential are the requirements to success in the subsequent parts of the course, that the full measure of preparation will be demanded. Imperfect preparation in Algebra is so common as to compel the conviction, that insufficient attention is given to this study in our Preparatory Schools, or that inadequate textbooks are used. Ray's Algebra, Part II., is preferred as a text-book for preparation. Nor is acquaintance with the processes of the science sufficient, without a thorough knowledge of the principles upon which these processes are based. Premiums fop Excellence in Preparatory Study.
