Maker s mark WR with an arch. About 1630. Given by Sir Charles J. Jackson, F.S.A. M.9z-1914. Cylindrical, expanding towards the foot. The mounts, engraved with line-borders, include a fiat lid with scroll-form thumbpiece, handle attached to the lip-mount and to a band encircling the body, and spreading foot. H. 8.4 in.. The same maker s mark is found on a dish with London hall-mark for 16 1-2, in private possession. (Sn Jackson, English Goldsmiths and their Marks, 1905, p. 1183 SWEETMEAT DISn. Circular, with scalloped edge and shell handles; embossed. Made by W. Maundy. London hall-mark for 1633-4. M561-1911. Decoration of flowers in radiating compartments, surrounding a central group of seeded ornaments, and a shield pricked with the initials A L I. Diam. 6.6 in. From the Tipping Collection. (Plate 20.)
