Bottom Headers Ve have recently made improvements iii the bottom headers, our new style of header being shown on the opposite page. The soot which collects on the tubes of an economizer is con--stantly removed by the traveling up and down of the scrapers, and falls to the bottom of the chamber under the bottom headers, whence it may be raked out through convenient doors. Formerly the bottom headers were so shaped that only a small space was left between, and sometimes the soot would bridge over this opening and pile up in the economizer passages. Ve have, therefore, designed the new style of bottom header shown herewith. The sides of the header are hollowed out between pipes, so that there is plenty of room for the soot to fall through, and even for the passage of a man's arm. This prevents clogging, and makes it easy to replace worn or broken scrapers. Vhile the new headers are narrower than the old, they are made deeper in order to preserve suflicient internal area for the flow of the water. The Scrapers The scrapers of a Green Fuel Economizer are three in number and encircle the pipe with the joints overlapping each other.
