Born in Louisiana, he currently lives in New York. Shea was born 27 November 1979 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His family moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida in 1986. Shea attended Florida State University. He is married to Langhorne Shea. After graduating from FSU, Shea moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a career in songwriting and singing. In January 2004 he moved to New York City. His debut solo album "Take The Bite" which blended Folk music, rock, and psychedelia was released in 2006, and he signed with indie label Family Records in 2007. During the first six months of 2009 he released one single each month. His song "Roll Your Windows Down" was featured on the Season 6 finale of the TV Show One Tree Hill. In July 2010 his song "Wave Of Walls," from the album "Love Is Here To Stay," was used on the episode "The Monster Within" of the ABC drama The Gates. In September 2010 his song "Good Man," from the album "Love Is Here To Stay," was used on the episode "The Space In Between" on season 8 of One Tree more
