And you say that the crack above the roof is as much attributable to the action of heat, or want of heat, as the crack where the breeching enters the flue in that wall; is that right? A. Yesr there is very little difference, and it is just as much attributable to the heat in the flue up above the roof as it is down at the bottom. Q. So that the absence of heat right down at the bottom has absolutely cracked this wall for a distance of how many hundred feet? A. I don't know; it is over a hundred. Defendant's Witness--Robert Maynicke--Cross. Iu0t7 Q. The flue was originally one hundred and how many feet, did you say on your examination? A. I do not know; I can measure it. It was 196 feet in height before the extension of 1904 was put on. I presume that is right, if I said so. Q. It would require a flue 669 square inches. Q. What would be the measurement of that flue, what would be the dimensions? A. 16x42. That is for 200 horsepower; 167 feet in height, 669 square inches, 16x42. Q. Now, if this flue had a capacity of more than 669 square inches you would not have any complaint about it in that respect? A. I might have had. Q. I mean in that respect, in respect to the size of the flue? You might have some criticism about it in some other respect, but if it...show more
