Not illustrated. 1922 edition. Excerpt: ...back through carburetor takes place after engine starts, close the choker valve partway for an instant, to allow more fuel to be taken in. Never hold the choker valve for more than an instant; otherwise engine will become "flooded." After the engine has warmed up and explosions are regular and every cylinder is firing, open the throttle control wide and the speed should be controlled by the governor. It will take several minutes for motor and manifold to warm up, so do not do any adjusting if motor does not work correctly at once. When motor has become throughly warmed up and has been running under load for a few minutes the kerosene may be turned on by tuming fuel valve pointer toward position marked "Ker." Always disengage clutch and stop tractor before shifting gears. Use judgment in operating the clutch. Do not throw it in with a jerk when operating as this causes an excessive strain on the transmission and motor parts. Apply the clutch gradually...show more
