Cuban Loan Goes to Speyer & Co. Announcement was made Saturday that the Cuban loan of $16,500,000, authorized by Gov. Magoon in 1909, has been awarded to Speyer & Co., of New York., represented by Frank Steinhart, former United States Consul General at Havana. Five million five hundred thousand dollars of the loan will be issued immediately, and the remainder in the two succeeding years, on the call of the Government. The loan is secured by internal revenue. All of the bids were submitted by American bankers, of which the only other that approximated the conditions imposed by the Government was that of Solomon Brothers, of New York. terests which have formed a syndicate for the purpose of negotiating for a share of the $27,500,000 Chinese railway loan. The affair was largely of a social nature, but there was a general discussion of the conditions in China and the Far East. The hosts at the luncheon were Henry P. Davison and Charles Steele of J. P. Morgan & Company, and among the guests were E. C. Converse, president of the Bankers Trust Company; John Dennis, of Blair & more
