About Brenda Hurd

Miracle was born in Chemnitz Germany in 2002 as the first daughter to Gordon and Brenda Hurd. She learnt German as her first language as German was the language of instruction in the nursery she had to attend while her mum went to university. She also learnt English which she spoke at home and in church with her family. From an early age Miracle loved to read and write little poems and stories on different occasions such as "Father's Day," "Mother's Day" and Easter or just for fun. She started writing her first novel at age 9 which she is yet to finish and publish. When she came over to Britain aged three, Miracle quickly learnt English and within 3 months she forgot German. The reason being that as she learnt English she was constantly mixing up both languages so her parents decided that they should stop speaking German to her in order to help her learn English fast and be able to integrate into the school system. Miracle is now breaching this gap by learning French in school and picking up her German with the help of her mum at home. Brenda Hurd was born and raised in Cameroon where she attended Our Lady of Lourdes Girls Secondary School. After her "A" Levels she moved to Nigeria to attend university. She later on moved to Germany were she studied German and English Linguistics and Cultural studies graduating with an MA. Brenda loves literature and has been writing poetry since she was 12 years old. She has won several prices for her inspirational poems and has had the privilege of presenting her poems at various events. The Liverpool Central Museum in Great Britain also displays some samples of Brenda's poems. Brenda holds a Master's Degree in German and English Linguistics and Cultural studies. She is a conference speaker and linguist fluent in English, French and German. She is a preacher, marriage counsellor, motivational speaker, goal setting expert, pedagogist, entrepreneur and business adviser. Brenda loves to work with children and young people and welcomed the idea of co-authoring this book with Miracle as a mother-daughter experience encouraging each other to take their writing seriously. Brenda is married to Gordon Hurd and they have 5 children: Innocent, Paul-Silas, Miracle, Allegra and Excellence. Brenda and Miracle can be contacted by email at:
