Not illustrated. 1888 edition. Excerpt: ... members of the church. Pieece--June 10th, 1888, at Shenandoah, Pa., Mr. Henry Pierce, at the age of 53 years. He was born at Prestatyn, Flintshire, N.W., in 1835, and was the son of Mr. Thomas Pierce, who was a faithful deacon in the C. M. Church. He had received an excellent religious training in his youth, and was for many years a devoted member of the church. In 1856 he emigrated to Dodgevilie, Wis., afterwards to California, then to Gilberton and Shenandoah, Pa. While at Gilberton he married Miss Catherine Foulkes, daughter of the venerable deacon, Mr. H. D. Foulkes, who then lived at Middle Granville, N. Y. There were seven children born in the family, of whom two sons and four daughters survive, along with their mother, to mourn the loss of a beloved father and husband. One brother of the deceased, namely, Mr. Edward Pierce, survives, and lives at Frackville, Pa. Mr. Pierce was a member of Lodge 24 of the Odd Fellows, in California, and of the IvoriteLodge in Shenandoah. He died after a severe illness for three weeks, notwithstanding all that medical skill and loving care could do for him. The funeral took place June 13th, the remains being conveyed to Tamaqua for burial in the family let, in the Odd Fellows' Cemetery. The Rev. D. S. Thomas, Shenandoah, conducted the funeral services at the house and at the grave, where also the delegates of the Lodges took part in the services. May the blessing of God rest upon the widow' and fatherless children. SUNDAY SCHOOL PUBLICATIONS.
