Review Text

No book could be more important or timely at this point in history. The religion of the Moslem lands needs to be understood as never before as the Western world finds itself face-to-face with the Arab world in a situation which calls for the utmost in mutual understanding. Dr. Cragg, professor of Arabic and Islamic at the Hartford (Conn.) Seminary Foundation, has written a sympathetic yet positive and critical assessment of modern Islam and its relations with Christianity and the West. He takes the call to prayer as sounded five times by the muezzin and shows by a lucid analysis of the dogma and practice of Islam how the Christian Gospel is the answer and fulfillment of Moslem needs. The good things in Mohammedanism as well as the faults and handicaps of Christianity are frankly presented. This fascinating and significant book deserves a wide reading by earnest Christians everywhere. (Kirkus Reviews)show more
